From Kandy, I arrived in Ella and stayed in another great hostel. On my first night the Esala Perahera festival was happening, with dancing and parades through the streets.
During my time there, I hiked up Little Adam’s Peak, visited a tea plantation where I got to pick tea leaves, saw the famous Nine Arches Bridge, did a meditation session with a monk, and ate some amazing food. Ella felt relaxed but also full of things to do, and it ended up being one of my favourite stops.
One of the friends I made in Ella had rented a tuktuk and was driving it around Sri Lanka. He was heading to Arugam Bay next, so I joined him for the ride. Travelling by tuktuk was such a fun way to get around and it also gave us the freedom to stop whenever we wanted :)
In Arugam Bay, I signed up for a surf and yoga camp for five days. It was the perfect mix: mornings started with yoga, afternoons were spent surfing, and evenings finished with sunset yoga sessions. My surfing improved a lot in that short time, and the group there was really friendly. The food at the camp was also delish! There was plenty of free time too, so I could explore the local area.
After Arugam Bay, I made my way back to Colombo to catch my flight to Thailand for my final stop of the Asia trip!
