Animal Army Foundation pt.2

Heyaaa!! I hope everyone is doing well :) I can’t believe I have already been at Animal Army for over a week😮 Time here is going too quickly and I honestly wished I had applied to stay for longer as I am really enjoying it!😊

By this point, my whole camera roll is dog pictures, which I am sharing with the team here as they use them for their social media to encourage adoptions. It is also very common for volunteers to adopt after volunteering at the clinic. The vet told me that last year, 47 volunteers adopted dogs after coming here and I can see why! 🐶

The other day, I went with Dr.Kwanchai and Tam (who works at the clinic) on a rescue in the Animal Army ambulance. We collected one dog who had been in a fight and another who had been hit by a car. Both of these dogs are family pets, but Animal Army will look after them and provide necessary treatment for free as the families do not have the funds to pay for it🥰

I was also invited by Dr.Kwanchai to observe while himself and Tam completed surgery on a dog with a fractured leg. They placed a stainless steel pin into the affected bone, stitched it up, and then used a frame to secure it externally. It was so interesting to watch and hopefully I will see some more while I am here🫶🏻

Over the past few days the number of volunteers has gone up from 4 to 9! It has been nice getting to know everyone and also means the work is easier as now split between lots of people (many hands and all that)

In my free time, I have been doing lots of yoga, going to night markets, meals out with the other volunteers, visiting the beach and reading my book. I had a day off today and enjoyed some of the freshest and tastiest seafood I have ever had, while watching the fishing boats come in to dock at Ban Amphur🤩

Lots of love to everyone🫂

Great blog Maddy. Bit worried about the dog adoption comments. Although there wasn’t much space left in your rucksack to fit one in 😀. Speak soon xx
